What a surprise
Just discovered that the Crewe and Nantwich campaign is being run by Birmingham MP Steve McCabe. This would explain the jibe of the image I posted earlier. He's from Brum, a brilliant city but seems to always have people in positions of power who don't travel outside of Brum and Westminster. He probably wonders why Nantwich smells a bit funny when those very tall cars run around a lot, if he thinks that what Mr Timpson has, a rather modest farmhouse by any stretch of the imagination [I have farmer friends with bigger homes, living on half the salary of an MP], is a mansion. Heck. I doubt it's much bigger than Ms Jowell's home. Or say, Mr Miliband's multimillion property.....

I have to say the campaigning at Crewe and Nantwich has been shambolic for the Labour Party.
How can Labour, even on the ground with it‘s activists, now purport to “Toff” tactics when it’s filled with millionaire property developers and a PM worth about £2million?
Not to mention Mr Miliband’s large home.
How about Tessa Jowel’s largish home?
For a full decade Labour has gone around screeching at the “Classless” society concept, then the second people actually start voting classlessy and favour people that may represent them better because they have a higher knowledge of the corridors of power, or have a better education that the average voter, or have a silver tongue in their heads, or aide to the local economy [via a traditional British Industry no less!]
Why the hell would you run around playing the class card? Isn’t the PM espousing now that we should rally around British Institutions? Like it or lump it Ladies and Gents, Toffs and “The Hupper Clarses” are part of those Institutions.
Attacking them just shows that it’s nothing but words, and no promise, no action, no empathy. It screams “Vote for us, because we want to stay in power.” not “Vote for us, because we want the power to represent you.”
This is why the BNP is ahead of you, this is why the Conservatives are ahead of you. They’re turning around and stopping to address the issues, they’re talking about people’s actual concerns in a mature way.
The 10p tax band they talk about. The state of society, they talk about, our nonexistent police force tied down by forms, paperwork and the now blatantly useless CCTV camera system they talk about.
Labour?
Party activists wearing top hats and dinner jackets. Wow. Wait a go on representing people.
Your opponents are not running around quoting a Harry Enfield Character as every candidate that isn’t wearing a Red and yellow Rosette in the land.
Dunwoody had a lot of respect. Even as a Tory-baised blogger myself I respected her utterly, especially for being a stalwart proponent and representative of the Railways Industries in the House Of Commons.
The glaring omissions from the Labour Campaign are obvious, at least to me anyway, so I shall list them below... Why? Because it’s my right to do so!
- The National Labour Party didn’t care for Dunwoody: Brown’s no-show at her funeral was a blatant miscalculation and will be seen locally as a terrible act. When her Political Opponents and the Shadow Leader and Shadow Chancellor can turn up for the Funeral to pay their respects to a Parliamentary Titan as she, why can’t your own leader, even if he is running a country? Just because he is personally unpopular, doesn’t mean he should abandon any sense of respect, his sombre attitude there may even have clawed back some points locally and even nationally.

- Immature Campaigning. This leaflet, the website and the “Toffs in Top Hats” show Labour as little more than a conniving, divisive and vicious party, only concerned for power and power alone and a continued breakdown of society for no other reason than the perpetration of that power.
- The Classless Society has come true: They’ve not realised their audience actually listened to one of their ideological standpoints. Doesn’t matter now if you’re middle class, upper class or Working Class, it has dawned on many that they all suffer the same societal problems, and all feel the financial pinch in some way, even if it’s considerably less for those on higher wages, they still care. Brits are tolerant people, have an “I’m alright, mate” attitude and have the sense of “Fair Play” stuff like the 10p tax band abolition, while effecting 10% of the population, has turned nearly half of the electorate against Labour, simply because “It’s not Cricket”
Straight Talk Versus Spin Talk: The campaigning style just shows it doesn’t believe in what it espoused for so long. Why should people vote for it when you have a Tory party now filled with straight talkers, including Dave “I was brought up in a privileged background and I admit it” Cameron? [Partially paraphrased from his 2007 Conference Speech]
Substance versus Shortness
For this bit I’m just going to post two links. One about Ms Dunwoody, and then one about Mr Timpson
Ms Dunwoody’s “About” Page:
http://www.creweandnantwichlabour.org.uk/about_tamsin
Mr Timpson’s “About Edward” Page:
http://www.creweandnantwichconservatives.com/index.php?sectionid=102
Note the difference? The sheer length? Edward talks about his personal life as well as his public life, he also pulls heartstrings by saying he worked with troubled children.
Ms Dunwoody has a short piece on herself, her life and the fact she used to be in Wales. It certainly strikes me as she’s running on the hope of the popularity of the Dunwoody name, rather than as an actual candidate
Just Plain Ignorance:
Also, anybody else seen this picture?

Whoever edited it obviously rarely travels outside of a city.
That’s a ruddy Farmhouse, hardly a mansion.

A short introduction.
Cripes! Hello there. Uhm, now then, what did you say at the back there? No? Oh, right. Ok. Uhm. I said I'd have them done by Tuesday!
Now, where was I? Ah yes. Well I am a young man, like countless others on the internet, writing about politics. Because I tend to hammer out essay style opinions that apparently get me promptly banned or blocked from blogs [Yes LabourHome.org, I'm looking at you!] I have decided to make myself a little corner of the Internet all my own. From here I can espouse my opinion whilst shamelessly stealing the stories from places such as LabourHome, ConservativeHome and the great Iain Dale's blog and generally commenting on them here and in the comments boxes.
It largely stems from my own opinions, don't take them as verbatim and don't expect me to "break" any news stories as, at present I have no party affilation, though I suppose Tory Bais is likely.
So, lets crack on, shall we?
